TBH, civic duty aside, I hope I don’t get picked. This is the second time in the last year and I am a 1 man marketing / PR department at a 125 person company. No one exists to pick up the slack if I’m out and every day is a struggle to keep our new VP of Sales from doing something boneheaded.
Image above is an accurate depiction of most of the people sitting in this room.

I’ve had jury duty 5 times never been picked. You’d think they’d stop asking me.

They don’t look sleepy enough. I wonder if you could get an exemption based on your job.
Anyway, I thought I would be the most bored person alive today, but I think you beat me.

Tips:
“If the judge let it get this far, I feel the plaintiff must have a valid claim.” Or “If the defendant has refused to settle by now, they must have a darn good defense given how much this trial must be costing them in legal fees.”
“I think people sue too quickly for trivial things.”
“I think a lot of people see the opportunity to make a lot of money off something and will do whatever they can to make that money.”
“I understand that the law is the law, but if common sense tells me something different, I’m going with common sense.”
YMMV

I’m a trial lawyer and crazy people actually have put me on two juries — one civil and one criminal.

I think where I live Lawyers are automatically excluded from the jury pool if they are active with the State Bar

Quick way out. During the screening tell them “I always side with Law Enforcement no matter what”. Even if it’s not true it shows you’re biased and they’ll send you on your way. Always works.

That would surprise me as I don’t know of any place in the US that does that (not saying you’re wrong, just that I had not heard that). Typically, lawyers are encouraged to show up to set a good example for everyone else — which is a huge waste of time since a lawyer will not be selected to actually sit on the jury 99% of the time. I’m just lucky, I guess.

I basically am my company. I have help but I could not handle being on a jury. I had issues when I almost had to go in for the selection process. The morning before I called and I didn’t need to go in.

The court clerk always asks “are there any officers of the court here you are exempt” in every pool I’ve been in. I’ve done work as an expert witness so the defense usually strikes me.
